Rodney Gehrke

Rodney Gehrke is a concert organist, harpsichordist, pianist, conductor, choir director, teacher, and liturgical musician. He is Director of Music at All Saints’ Episcopal Church in Palo Alto, Organist and Choir Director at San Francisco’s Temple Emanu-El, and Professor of Organ at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. As a recording artist, he has recorded as continuo organist and harpsichordist with the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra, American Bach Soloists, and Voices of Music, and has also made two CDs of Mexican Baroque music with Chanticleer. As a touring performer, Rodney’s engagements have included touring with Chanticleer, and invited performances from Seoul to Leipzig. Closer to home, he is frequent solo performer, often on Stanford Memorial Church’s renowned instruments, and occasionally plays organ with the San Francisco Symphony, most recently in Bartok’s “Duke Bluebeard’s Castle.”

Rodney is devotee of J.S. Bach. Highlights include a 12-concert series of Bach’s complete organ works in Bach’s 300th birthday year, harpsichord performances of the Goldberg Variations, a recital in Bach’s St. Thomas Church in Leipzig, and frequent liturgical use of Bach’s choral works and organ works.
